Cookies & browser storage
No account is needed to remember a privacy choice.
Essential storage supports the features you request. Optional statistics stay off unless they are available and you choose to allow them. Advertising-network trackers are not active.
How your choice works
A cookie is a small browser value sent back to this site. Session storage is kept by your browser for a tab session; page memory disappears when the page is closed or reloaded. These technologies do not require a login.
When optional statistics become available, the initial panel offers equally prominent accept and reject controls and a settings option. Nothing is preselected. Scrolling, continuing to use the site or closing the settings dialog does not grant consent. You can generate and download free cards after rejecting.
We remember a saved choice for 184 days without renewing it just because you visit. You can change it sooner. We may need a new choice if the purposes or relevant conditions materially change, or if your browser has removed the prior choice. The expiry is our setting, not a claim that every cookie consent legally expires after six months.
Storage used by this release
| Name / technology | Purpose and provider | Lifetime / choice |
|---|---|---|
gg_consentFirst-party cookie | Stores the random consent receipt ID, policy version, statistics choice, inactive advertising status, and decision/expiry times. Set by Generate Greetings only when you save a choice. Server checks verify the receipt. | 184 days. Essential to apply your choice; acceptance and rejection have the same lifetime. |
gg-backgroundsSession storage | Remembers up to 30 recent background identifiers to reduce repetition when you request another image. No recipient name or visitor identifier. | Current tab session, subject to browser session-restoration behaviour. Functional to your requested image selection. |
| Editor state / image objects Page memory | Current card choices, recipient name, recent phrase combinations and rendered image previews. | Current page lifetime; previews are replaced and released as the editor changes. Necessary for the editor. |
| Short-lived random event ID Request and server database | Prevents counting the same optional statistics event twice. Not a persistent browser ID and not joined to the consent receipt. | Created only after statistics consent. Server deduplication keys become eligible for deletion after two days. |
Legacy gg_owner cookie, gg-export-intent session storage | An earlier release prepared browser ownership and export intent for future purchases. Current free use does not create these values and paid checkout is disabled. | A pre-existing owner cookie may remain up to its original one-year expiry; session storage lasts for the tab session. You can remove legacy values through browser settings. |
Legacy gg-languageLocal storage | No longer used. The language is represented by the page URL. The editor removes the old value if present. | Removed when the editor loads, or manually through browser settings. |
Our optional statistics do not set a separate analytics cookie. Security rate limits and consent evidence are server-side records; their retention is described in the Privacy notice. Owner-only administration may use the hosting provider’s authentication cookies when the operator signs in. These are separate from public card creation, which does not require ChatGPT login.
Advertising and third parties
There are no active advertising-network cookies, Google Analytics tags or embedded Stripe payment forms in this release. Direct sponsor banners may be enabled only after operator details are complete; they use images served by this website and do not load an advertiser’s tracking pixel. Following a sponsor, credit or sharing link leaves this service and the destination applies its own privacy rules.
We will identify an advertising provider, update this inventory and implement the relevant controls before loading a future network. A future personalised Google advertising integration in the EEA, UK or Switzerland requires the applicable Google-certified consent platform and TCF integration. This site’s current preference panel is not advertised as a certified CMP.
Change, withdraw or clear
Use to change or withdraw optional consent. Other open tabs check the current browser cookie and refresh the choice when notified or brought into focus. If saving fails or a valid receipt cannot be verified, optional tracking is blocked.
You can also delete site cookies and browser storage in your browser settings. This removes the remembered choice and recent image history; it does not delete downloaded files, messages already shared, provider logs or consent evidence held under its retention schedule. Blocking essential storage can prevent preference saving or some features from working. A refusal never disables the free greeting editor.
See the Legal & contact page for the operator and privacy contact, and the Privacy notice for data rights and provider information.
